For people who don’t have time to bathe or access to fresh water, a South African college student has a solution: a shower gel users simply rub onto their skin. One small packet replaces one bath, and users never need any water. Ludwick Marishane’s inspiration was a lazy friend, but his invention will be a boon to people who live in areas where clean water is in short supply.
The gel, called Drybath, kills germs, moisturizes the skin and exudes a pleasant, light smell, unlike hand sanitizers, according to Marishane’s website, Headboy Industries.  [Continue reading.]

Louisiana, 1976.
Still exists today.

this bitch face look like a damn flatboard

1976

never fails to completely blow my mind at people (often women and/or children) in the backgrounds just standing there smiling about something so incredibly ugly and inhumane —like those old lynching photos where little kids are just smiling with ice cream cones as though they’re at a family picnic
the exact same gleeful, soulless smiles you see today at armed Tea Party gatherings, Mitt Romney or Glenn Beck rallies… virtually any conservative, Republican rally where seas of white people have congregated to spew their hatred for president “Obama”
nobody intelligent is buying into the self-serving meme that racism is dead. no matter how much John Roberts and his right bent Supreme Court say it is

My whole thing has always been, especially when people try to say racism doesn’t exist in this present day is: what do you think happened to all those kids? If they have been raised to hate people, they will continue to hate people. And their generations will hate people.
I watched a doc on the klan once where it said that after they were starting to get tried and found guilty for actual crimes a new direction was taken. Their mission became to infiltrate businesses…the government….etc. So that when they could basically make it hard for those they hate to live.
So to do that, they had to be more sophisticated in how their hatred was displayed, hence the coded language, government policies that ultimately hurt people of color in every way, .
And their kids also had to adapt…imagine that. View Larger
